Sensor replacement at your place: measurement first, then the part
An engine warning light, a sensor fault code, jerking or a car that stalls — it is often a sensor. But not every sensor fault code means a bad sensor: the cause can be a wire, a connector or an earth. I come, measure, and replace the sensor only when the measurement shows it is the cause.

Why it matters
A sensor fault isn't always a bad sensor
That is why replacing by feel ends with two parts instead of one.
A scanner says there is a fault in the sensor circuit, but not whether the sensor, wire, connector, earth or control unit is to blame. Replacing a sensor without measuring is guessing — and you often pay for two sensors because the first was fine.
So before replacing I measure: the sensor supply, earth, signal and resistance. Only when the measurement points to the sensor do I suggest replacing it.
Many sensors can be replaced on site in one visit, often without a ramp, because access is from above or from the side.

What I replace most often — after measuring and reading codes.
Temperature and pressure sensor
Coolant temperature, manifold pressure. Wrong readings spoil fuel metering and fan operation.
Lambda sensor
Affects combustion and emissions. I first check whether it is the sensor, a leak or a wire.
ABS wheel sensor
The ABS/ESP light. Often the sensor or its wire — I tell them apart by measuring the signal.
Parking and comfort sensors
Parking, rain, light, level sensors. After replacement I check operation and clear the fault code.
A sensor that "says something"
When the scanner points to a suspect sensor but the symptom does not fit, I measure first — and only then suggest a part.
Honestly: I won't replace every sensor on site
Some sensors sit in hard-to-reach places or need other parts removed. If replacement needs a ramp or a workshop, I will say so before I start.
Parts are not included in the labour price. I do not replace "just in case" and do not add sensors that are not needed.

I measure: supply, earth, signal and sensor resistance, and the continuity of the wire. I suggest replacement only when the measurement points to the sensor.

On most petrol cars the sensors are reachable from above or from the side and can be replaced on site. On some models access needs a workshop — I say so before the visit, based on the model.
